Through this new mobile Web app on your desktop Instagram made a big change by launching a Web application that lets you upload photos from your browser on a phone, sin having to rely on an additional app.
Instagram did not officially add the option to desktop computer browsers, but there it is; all you have to do is find it.
Many Instagram users take photos in a DSLR camera and edit the images on the computer before uploading them to Instagram. This means that the finished photo has to be transferred to a phone (via AirDrop or email), which is cumbersome.
This shortcut saves you a step, making it even easier to upload photos taken with a DSLR camera.
With a couple of adjustments, you can upload photos to Instagram from your computer. Most browsers have a way of allowing you to change the “User Agent”, that is, the thing that tells a website what kind of device you are using.
So, even when you’re on a laptop or a desktop computer, you can make a website like Instagram show you the mobile site. And that is precisely what we are going to do.
In Safari, it is very easy. Go to Safari> Preferences> Advanced. Select the box at the bottom that says “Show development menu in menu bar”.
Opens a private browsing window, Go to Development> User Agent> Safari – iOS 10 – iPhone. Then go to Instagram.com, enter and click the camera button at the bottom of the screen to upload a photo from your desktop.
In Chrome, open an incognito window and go to View> Developer> Developer Tools. It will pop up a sidebar with a lot of code; ignore it. At the top of the bar, to the left of Elements, you’ll find an icon that looks like a tablet and a phone, Click on it.
